Ruthenium
Venture engineering for healthcare + life sciences
Ruthenium helps technical founders define the product, build evidence and move the venture forward.
Our thesis
Technologies stall when development, product decisions, evidence and investor expectations evolve separately. Ruthenium brings them together before those decisions become costly constraints.
Venture engineering applies technical judgment, product discipline and investment awareness to shape the company as deliberately as the product.
A clearer product thesis, a prioritized evidence path and progress toward the next consequential decision.
What we support
We can own the full development path, lead a critical workstream or contribute where the venture needs the most leverage.
Built for science-led products.
We work across medical devices, research tools, diagnostics and other healthcare and life-sciences technologies where product decisions depend on understanding the science, the user, the evidence and the path to adoption.
Define the product, user, development logic and decisions that create value.
Product thesis · technical risk framing · clinical and stakeholder evidence planning
Turn the thesis into focused experiments, early prototypes and evidence that tests assumptions quickly.
Prototype definition · focused execution · early user and stakeholder testing
Connect technical milestones to a capital narrative that investors can underwrite.
Technical-investment narrative · diligence preparation · investor relations support
How we get there
Ruthenium can support the full sequence or selected parts of it. Discovery establishes where we can be most useful.
Define the product thesis, user and first uncertainties to resolve.
Set the experiments, decisions and feedback that matter now.
Develop focused prototypes and test key assumptions.
Use evidence to advance, adapt, narrow or stop.
Turn the work into a roadmap and a clear next step.
Ways to work together
01Defined project
A scoped engagement for a product workstream, prototype, diligence question or critical decision. Ruthenium carries the agreed outcome from framing through delivery.
02Dedicated venture support
For founders navigating connected decisions, we shape ongoing support after discovery—adding experienced technical and product capacity without asking you to build a large outside team.
03Venture development
For ventures that need more than a discrete workstream, Ruthenium can lead an integrated development program across product definition, engineering, prototyping, evidence generation and preparation for the next technical or investment milestone.
From a focused five-hour working block to a 200-hour partnership over one to twenty-four weeks.
For technical founders, research-led spinouts and early healthcare or life-sciences ventures with a meaningful product or technical decision to resolve. Ruthenium is not a commodity engineering vendor, a source of fundraising introductions or a substitute for the venture’s operating leadership.
Led by Rohin
Ruthenium is led by Rohin Banerji, PhD: biomedical engineer, product builder and venture strategist.
At Boston University, Rohin invented and led the Crystal Ribcage from concept to deployable research platform in three years.
His work includes venture thesis development at Flagship Pioneering, emerging-technology strategy at Northeastern University, and review of more than 100 health and deep-tech startups.
Built integrated fabrication, sensing, fluidic, ventilation and imaging workflows.
Assessed feasibility, market opportunity and development paths for frontier science.
Applied diligence, customer discovery and risk framing across health and deep tech.
